Ala Moana Beach Park SUP
This large lagoon protected from the outside surf is perfect for beginner SUPers.
If you are trying to learn how to stand up paddle board, or “SUP” for short, the beach park at Ala Moana is the place to go. This large lagoon has water that is deep enough for the inevitable falls and is protected by a shallow reef- keeping the inner waters calm.
On the south end of Ala Moana beach park, there is a smaller lagoon on “Magic Island” that is protected by a large rock wall. Side note: Outside the protection of this rock wall is “Big Rights,” which is an expert-only wave that only breaks on the biggest south swell.s
